The Future by Cindy Paul

This year is my last year of high school, but I do not want to graduate in May while I’m still young. School is fun, and I get to play sports, and travel in any kind of activity. I will seriously miss school because I’ll miss going to travel, and I want to learn more. Learning is something to do and not just be bored all the time.
When I am in school, I like to learn certain thing like math. Math is like a special subject I learn fast in, and I just seem to know the answers. Numbers go through my brain like their special numbers. I honestly love math it makes me happy to know the answers for equations. It is my responsibility to learn in school and focus on my education because school is important to me to develop my skills. Also if I don’t graduate high school then I wouldn’t get a good job because I won’t have a diploma to work.
My goal is to graduate high school next year in May and go to college in August with my friend Rodney Fancyboy. I want to succeed in school and in college, to get a wonderful job, and a nice career. When people are done with school they can follow their dreams and do what they want after they graduate. School is not hard people just got to pay attention do their work, and have good attendance for school. School is an experience for a joyful job. People can choose if they want to go to trade school, job corps, AVTEC, or college.

Camping Trip by Ashley Fancyboy

My camping trip was great. First we went to the beach and wait for everyone to come down from the school, After they went down, we took off to youth camp.
We stopped there for 20 minutes and 5 boat take off to the camping spot. After we reach the camping spot we set up the tents, eat, and go take off up river for a boat ride for three hours or so, and while boat riding up river we saw lots of ducks, the boys caught one and the other boat caught two black ducks, after we were done bird hunting, we went to the camping spot, learned how to cut the birds, and after we learned, Cindy F. make bird soup.
After we ate the bird soup, we get ready for bed. Next day we get up, eat breakfast wait for an hour and take off for a boat ride again, we went way up there, took us three hours to go up there, after we reach the cross, we take pictures and visit the persons cross. We went back down river, and while going down Cindy Fancyboy caught a young bull. After we saw them, those boys who were in the boat went and help cut and skin the moose. After they skin the moose, we went down to the camp, and my uncle and Agnes make soup, and I was frying moose meat for couple people that wanted some.
On the last day of camping, while going down river from the camping spot, half way down, we saw a young bull, and the boys caught it, There was Richard, Dimitri, Anthony, Alo, and Kevin caught the young bull; it looked like it took 5 people to take it down. They caught it, and skin it really fast, so after they skin it we went down to youth camp and snack on hot dogs. After,we snack we go to the boat and take off, couple hours later we came home.
It was so much fun; I didn’t want come home, I hope we have another school trip.:)

Camping By: Diana Evan

Camping out in the country is always fun. This past weekend I went on a two day camping trip with the school. Some of the students stayed at Youth Camp while most of us stayed at five day. I’m so glad that the school had an opportunity for us to go out camping and learn more about our culture. It was so good to get a break from home, cell phones, and school.
When we first got up there, we set up all the tents, made hot dogs, ate snacks and then got ready to go on a boat ride. What we did was chase after beavers, birds, cows and bulls. The same day, one of the boys caught a duck, which we had with soup. The next day, after everyone ate lunch, we all went on a long boat ride.
While taking a ride, we saw a cabin, and checked it out. Also we bumped into the other students with their captains, and they were on top of the hill checking an old man’s grave. I sure enjoyed the long boat rides because it is always beautiful in the country. Before we all went to camp, we chased after a cow for about fifteen minutes. The younger kids were so excited thinking the boys were going to catch it, but they didn’t. After that we all went back to camp and saw that Cindy caught a moose. At camp, we cooked moose meat over the fire which was super yummy.
Friday morning we put everything away before we ate lunch. After lunch, everyone got ready to start heading down river. On our way down we took a ride to see if we would see anything. What was so exciting one of the boys saw a moose swimming, so our captain cruised to the moose. Soon as the young bull went onto the land, Robert said “Let Alo shoot first!” After Alo had his first shot, four of the other boys shot and knocked it down. It was so much fun to experience someone catch their first moose. Then, we all came home and had to tell everyone how much fun we all had. This trip was so awesome, and I’m thankful for the school for providing us with gas and food to let us go out camping.

Basketball by Denzel Polty

Basketball is about teamwork, learning new skills, practice, competition, winning game shots, coaching, traveling to games, and ball handling. We start off running until the coach tells to stop and pay attention. Next, we stretch our legs, arms, ankles, shoulders, and back.

Wrestling by Cheryl Nick

Wrestling is my favorite sport! It involves a lot of exercising and can make you stronger. When I first joined wrestling, I was in the seventh grade. I was scared and sore the first day of practice.
In practice, we start off running around the gym until the coach tells us to stop and pay attention. Next, we stretch out our legs, arms, neck, and back. After, we start working in moves and how to do a pin. We also have to practice enough to travel to other villages and schools. We usually go to Chevak, Bethel, and Dillingham. This will be my last year to join wrestling, so I will try to do my best.

Coach Cory by Diana Evan

Cory Stringer is a principal at Pilot Station School. When he was twenty-six years old, he first started coaching.  When everyone was cheering for his team it gave him a sense of pride. He had so many exciting games. In one of them, the boys were down by four and had thirty seconds left. What he did was set up a play; one of his players shot a three, got fouled, and won the game. When he went to state, there were awards like All Star, Most Valuable Player, and academic awards. It was a learning experience for him to go to state because he didn’t realize how far behind his team was until he watch others play. When he was preparing his team, they watched others play and talked about what they need to improve. Coaching in Montana was memorable because he got his name on the trophy for the first time.
